Chris Ballentine is a licensed attorney and serves as the Subject Matter Expert for No Surprises Act Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) at Nimble Solutions. In this role, he provides strategic, regulatory, and operational guidance on federal and state IDR processes and requirements, with a focus on dispute resolution, payer strategy, reimbursement optimization, and No Surprises Act compliance across a national revenue cycle management platform. He also supports client engagements, business development initiatives, operational strategy, and the development of technology-enabled solutions designed to improve IDR performance and reduce revenue leakage.
Chris brings extensive expertise in the No Surprises Act and the federal Independent Dispute Resolution process, with experience spanning regulatory interpretation, dispute eligibility, payment adjudication, stakeholder engagement, operational compliance, quality assurance, internal audits, and complex dispute resolution. His work involves analyzing and applying federal and state statutes, regulations, agency guidance, and program policies to complex IDR matters, while translating regulatory requirements into practical operational strategies and defensible outcomes for providers and healthcare organizations.
Prior to joining Nimble Solutions, Chris held multiple progressively senior positions within a federally certified Independent Dispute Resolution Entity (IDRE), where he ultimately served in leadership and subject matter expert roles. In those capacities, he developed significant experience administering and adjudicating disputes under the No Surprises Act, including reviewing medical claims, conducting payment determinations, analyzing complex eligibility issues, interpreting federal and state regulatory requirements, managing escalated disputes, and communicating determinations to providers, payers, government stakeholders, and other healthcare industry participants.
Chris’s experience on both the provider and adjudicative sides of the Independent Dispute Resolution process provides him with a unique and comprehensive perspective on the regulatory, operational, and decision-making considerations that shape federal IDR disputes. His broader professional background includes healthcare reimbursement, insurance claims, legal consulting, and insurance regulatory compliance, giving him a multidisciplinary foundation for advising on healthcare payment disputes and No Surprises Act implementation.
Chris earned his Juris Doctor from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Criminal Justice from The University of Alabama.
